Captain Picks: Week 9

LEC SUPERWEEK: Only the first 2 games for each LEC team count for fantasy scoring this week (Sunday games do not count, so it ends up functioning as a normal week)

If you haven’t noticed yet, we are just the nicest people in the world. If you set a lineup each week, we officially love you. Not only are we are telling you who to pick for your Captain, we want to give you the next level analysis on those perfect Champion picks! That 50% bonus can be the difference between winning it all and applauding from the stands. So let’s break down who you should be targetting this week!

If you are a hardcore player and want to do a deeper dive, we provide the current ‘Captain Role Meta,’ which talks through each role’s viability for a Captain pick.

5 Best Captain Options

1. FLY PowerOfEvil: Orianna + LeBlanc

The Perfect Captain: THE KING IS BACK. Fresh off an 80 point week, POE is out to score even higher against CLG & IMT. We saw him prioritize Orianna and LeBlanc on the new patch last week, and I am predicting that trend to continue. Also, I’m predicting the ‘POE gets 30+ points in every beatdown game’ trend to continue.

2. G2 Perkz: Kalista + Caitlyn

Oh baby, massive upside here. If G2 is fully back, then that means Perkz is out to claim his title as LEC’s best player. Perkz has a wide Champion pool, but you should feel confident in these two picks after seeing how much G2 prioritized them last week for him.

3. TL Tactical: Ezreal + Ashe

Tactical is just as safe as they come. TL’s conservative 11.9 Kills/game average limits his upside, but he always ends up with over 20 points. And if you look at the last 5 games, he always ends up on Ezreal or Ashe.

4. FLY Santorin: Sett + Trundle

Flyquest should have such a good week that they get two players in here. Santorin is an easy case to make; he has the highest Kill Participation and plays on the team that leads the LCS in Kills. And just to make him even more enticing of a Captain, Sett & Trundle account for all of his last 5 games played. It is like he is begging to be your Captain.

5. C9 Zven: Ashe + Aphelios

As down as we all want to be on Cloud9, we all know they are going to destroy DIG & CLG. Zven was one of the few players to stick with Aphelios, which is nice to a Captain pick because it will most likely always be there for him. Zven and C9 will both bounce back in a major way.

Deeper Dive – Captain Role Meta

Top Lane

Kennen has been hot lately, but it is still all about the counter-picks. Put your crown somewhere else.

LoL Jungler Icon

Jungle Captains are so in right now. If you spend up for the position, the pool is predictable enough where it is a great investment. The Hecarim experiment didn’t come to fruition, but now Sett is joining mainstays like Lee Sin, Graves, Volibear, and Trundle atop the meta list.

Mid Lane

The position continues to display consistent variety. Just like the position itself, making your Mid Laner your Captain comes with risk but sky-high upside. It takes the most studying of any of the Big 3 (Mid, Jungle, Bot) to get right, but the reward is there.

What is dead may never die. The meta for Bot Laners changed drastically after the newest patch, but Aphelios is still hanging around. However, it is clear that Caitlyn, Kalista, Ezreal and Ashe are the main four you should focus on.

Honestly, an Ignar Captain with Thresh/Rakan makes total sense this week, but I won’t be the one to do it.
