Captain Picks: Week 8

If you haven’t noticed yet, we are just the nicest people in the world. If you set a lineup each week, we officially love you. Not only are we are telling you who to pick for your Captain, we want to give you the next level analysis on those perfect Champion picks! That 50% bonus can be the difference between winning it all and applauding from the stands. So let’s break down who you should be targetting this week!

If you are a hardcore player and want to do a deeper dive, we provide the current ‘Captain Role Meta,’ which talks through each role’s viability for a Captain pick.

5 Best Captain Options

1. C9 Blaber: Lee Sin & Volibear

The Perfect Captain: With the new patch complicating Bot Laner Champs, Blaber is the King this week. He can easily outscore any player at any position this week, the only concern with him as your Captain is whether a team is foolish enough to let Olaf go through. I don’t think any team is that foolish, so Volibear sneaks in the combo.

2. MAD Carzzy: Jhin + Ezreal

Aphelios is getting nerfed, but Carzzy didn’t play him anyways. I fully expect opponents to ban his Kalista, which leaves his patented Ezreal open or his solo-queue favorite Jhin open! MAD is usually always set up for a 2-0 week, and fight a lot along the way.

3. RGE Larssen: Orianna + Azir

The G2 loss hurt, but Larssen is still playing like the bet Mid in the LEC. It seems he is now favoring Azir over Corki, and he has a competitive schedule this week that should force him to score some extra points.

4. FLY PowerOfEvil: Orianna & Azir

Flyquest is showing signs of returning to early season form, a form which saw POE score 30 points in 6 of his first 8 games. You can’t have a big FLY week without a massive POE week. It’s just science.

5. MAD Shadow: Lee Sin & Volibear

Finally Shadow gets some love! With Captains being more difficult than ever for Bot Laners, the top tier Junglers rise up the charts. Shadow hasn’t scored less than 20 points in any of MAD’s last 4 wins, and he always seems to end up on Lee Sin.

Top Lane

Counter-picks make the position way too hard to predict, not to mention the subdued scoring compared to other positions.

As Mid and Bot get harder to predict, top-tier Junglers make for more and more enticing captains! You need to right Jungler to pull it off, but the Champion pool for the position has stayed nice and stable.

Mid Lane

With the patch hitting ADC’s hard this week, we will see some extra crowns on Mids this week. The Champion pool is still pretty diverse, but it has been the same diversity through the split. So consistent diversity? That a thing?

Bot Lane

This will be interesting! The new patch brings major changes to ADC’s, specifically bringing a big nerf to everybody’s favorite Champion, Aphelios. Ezreal and Ashe can stick around, but you can expect to see some surprise picks this week.
