If you haven’t noticed yet, we are just the nicest people in the world. If you set a lineup each week, we officially love you. Not only are we helping tell you who to pick, but we also want to give you the next level analysis on how to get those perfect Champion picks for your Captain! That 50% bonus can be the difference between winning it all and applauding from the stands. So let’s break down what the best picks are by each position.

If you are a hardcore player and want to do a deeper dive, we provide the current ‘Captain Role Meta,’ which talks through each role’s viability for a Captain pick.

5 Best Captain Options

1. GG FBI: Kalista + Ezreal

The Perfect Captain: Your choice of Captain isn’t always about who will score the most, instead who is the most predictable. FBI’s Champion pool has been extremely predictable this split, and he has a high-upside schedule with a super high scoring floor thanks to his Guardian Angel schedule to make him the perfect Captain. Sometimes people undervalue safety and consistency.

2. FLY PowerOfEvil: Orianna + LeBlanc

I could’ve easily made POE the #1 Captain again, but it’s no fun to repeat people up top. Then we wouldn’t even get to create a new banner image. POE has shown he is a lock on Orianna, but the second choice is still risky. He may have something up his sleeve for playoffs, but I’m sticking with LeBlanc.

3. FLY Santorin: Graves + Trundle

After his dominant showing on the first picked Graves and the slight nerf that Sett received in the new patch, Graves + Trundle may be the new perfect pairing for Santorin. His schedule is mouth-watering, and we all expect him to take major advantage of it.

4. TSM Doublelift: Lucian + Xayah

The unpredictable Champion pool of Doublelift puts a damper on his Captain status, but I may have cracked the code. Caitlyn will be permabanned against him. His single game on Ezreal was too random. And we know his Senna is cursed. Lucian and Xayah seem like the favorite options of DL and are options that won’t be banned away.

5. FLY WildTurtle: Ashe + Aphelios

You know FLY has a good set up when I think 3 of their players would be amazing Captains. Outside of a random Senna game, all of his last 6 games have come on Ashe or Aphelios. Better yet, other teams don’t seem to care as they are more focused on banning out the other members of FLY. WildTurtle will always get what he wants and will rack up major points while doing so.

Deeper Dive – Captain Role Meta

LoL top lane icon

Top Lane

Even though some Top laners are worthy of the crown, it is too difficult to predict the counter-pick you will see.

LoL Jungler Icon

Things have gotten a little fuzzier with Nidalee making her way into the meta and actually having LCS success. Olaf seems to be perma-banned, but top-tier Junglers still enjoy Sett, Trundle, Volibear, and the occasional Graves.

LoL Mid Lane Icon

Mid Lane

Are they looking to carry the game on their own? Then they want Orianna or Azir. Are they looking to roam and help others? Then you are looking at Zoe or Galio. You must know your Mid laner. Except for Bjergsen, that dude is unpredictable.

LoL bot lane icon

Bot Lane

Choosing Champions for your Bot laner is EZ(real). It has become clear that the ideal pairing, regardless of the player, is Ezreal and Aphelios. Yes, other Champs can sneak in (Kalista, Varus, Kaisa), but there are too many options there, and they all have the same small percentage so they end up canceling each other out.

LoL Support Icon

I hope those 2-3 people that went Support Captain last week learned their lesson.
